About

Andrea Fortuna is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Human-Robot Interfaces and Interaction (HRII) Laboratory of Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (IIT).  He completed his PhD in 2026, obtaining the diploma cum Laude from the Electronic, Information and Bioengineering Department of Politecnico di Milano in collaboration with the HRII lab. He received his Master’s Degree in Biomedical Engineering, Technologies for electronics field, in April 2022 and his Bachelor’s Degree in Biomedical Engineering in September 2019, both from Politecnico di Milano.  His research focuses on the development of care devices for people who need physical support to carry out daily activities (e.g. walking) due to impairment of mobility. The research is based on the detection of possibly traumatic events for the person (e.g loss of balance, falls, loss of senses, etc.) and on the development of an advanced human-robot interaction and collaboration device capable of providing the physical support needed to prevent these events from causing physical harm to the individual.
